Blog Entry 3
Firstly, here is a video of the early prototype my group showed at the progress update:
I am very proud of my group for being one of only 3 groups to have a prototype to the level where a video could be shown. It is an achievement that not many group were able to achieve.
However, there is also some very bad news that came with this. The assessor did not like our early prototype and could not see how a 2D platformer could ever be a narrative game or have a story. This was quite the blow and whether I disagree with the point or not our assessor like any shareholder/manager knows what is best for the project. As such my group had a discussion about what to do.
We were all devastated, after all this was 6 weeks worth of ideas and plans down the drain. The group came together despite this to form a new plan of action. Within 2 hours we had a new plan that everyone was onboard with and knew what was happening. I cannot stress how good this is, if we had not come up with a plan so soon after that news our group would have crumbled. It is truly impressive how well we came together in a crisis and pressed forward despite the massive setback.
I am still working on the games cutscenes however the game is now a 3D game as such I will be looking into Unity’s timeline feature to hopefully make my work a lot easier.
